Shelters can only provide so much room for them, and in the end many are euthanized. Approximately 3-4 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year in the United States, and about 6-8 million are sheltered. Sadly, not all shelters humanely euthanize their animals. It's a sad truth that needs more recognition. So adopt your next pet and save an animal’s life.
