With this program, kids have the opportunity to further their reading confidence and skills by reading to trained...... [view]

These days, it seems a lot of parents choose to park their kids in front of the TV before bedtime instead of reading them a book. What a shame. I remember my parents reading to me every night. It fueled my love for books and reading, and even inspired me to write my own children’s book. There...... [view]

I just love everything that he writes.
When I first read "The Island of the Day Before", I was like, "Omigod! That's exactly how I imagined things when I was a young HS student, creating my own theories about getting old or younger the moment one crosses the latitudes" But of course, his was...... [view]

This week at our weekly leadership meeting we discussed a research article about an American school who number crunched student achievement over a 3 year period. One of the central themes of the Big Day Out this year was to “get smart and open the classrooms doors” so that instruction, which can often seen as private teacher business, can be seen and improved. Each year Darrell Fraser, the deputy secretary of the Department [DEECD]...... [view]

"Some Web evangelists say children should be evaluated for their proficiency on the Internet just as they are tested on their print reading comprehension. Starting next year, some countries will participate in new international assessments of digital literacy, but the United States, for now, will...... [view]

Description: Learning a new language can be quite the challenge for some people. But think about it this way, everytime you learn a new language you can add another millions of people to who you can get to know and have a conversation with. Learning a language can help you adapt to new places and also help you appreciate a new culture without the language barriers. With a new language you can learn how to read, write and speak fluently. I say, that's pretty darn impressive. [view]
