Description: I'm from a resourse-less small country in far east and I often feel uncomfortable about waste and indifference about it in this country (U.S.). I do believe plastic bags for shopping will be extinct some time in the future in New York but I'd like to accelerate that speed, hopefully! I myself use a cotton shopping bag. In my hometown (city in Tokyo), a municipal government charges five cents for one plastic bag (strictly speaking, the reality is a bit different) to promote "bring your own bag" and my-bag-ratio is increasing. I could see that super markets in New York sell reusable shopping bags nowadays (a big move!) but I rarely see them in use at cash registers. How can we promote "my shopping bag" or guilty feeling to use plastic bag? (Let me know your thoughts!)
As a first step toward my goal, I'd like to convince at least one person "to bring his/her bag" for shopping. [view]
