There are some things that you never have enough of; like money, water, air and love. Just how much money does one need to accumulate before he says: "That's it! Description: Honor killing is a deadly crime practiced in the name of tradition and culture around the world. For centuries this custom has snatched away the lives of innocent women just for the sake of restoration of so-called honor, but the question is.....is it? Or is it mere satisfaction of male dominated societies to stay powerful? Honor killing is a bitter reality around the world, it lives in many forms where burning, axing down, stoning, and burying are rampant in many countries. Honor killings in each form can't be accepted and needs to be abolished. WAKE UP!!! Campaign against honor killings is a movement of both men and women around the world to bring the change that is needed to end this crime! [view]

Description: Women today owe a lot to our predecessors who have paved the way for us to vote, work, have our voices heard and be recognized as persons. It is important to acknowledge women’s history, to take note of the progress made so that we can continue to fight oppression and marginalization. Women in every country of the world should be able to have autonomy, bodily integrity, receive an education, have the right to vote and hold public office, own property and work for fair and equal pay. We must learn from our past, for the sake of society; as the saying goes “those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” [view]

Description: This project was designed to deal with domestic violence against women in poor communities in the city of Brasília. The need for this project was identified after the Brazilian Government created... Goals: Empowering women through education and skills is the main objective of this project that aims to support those women who suffer from any form of violence.
Through awareness raising workshops, information booklets and practical workshops where women can learn how to raise their income and become independent, we seek to improve their quality of living and increase equity between men and women.
The main difference between this project and many others on this theme, is that we don't want to exclude men from this process. We want men and women to work together towards a life free from violence, exercising citizenship.
Objectives- Inform men and women about how violence contributes to poverty
- Let women know about their rights
- Create workshops for awareness raising
- Create an environment where women can learn from each other, through member stories, exchange of ideas on how to raise income at home, etc.
ActivitiesThe project will be promoting training workshops on the following areas:
-Sewing
-Family Agriculture
-Craftswork
-Recycling
-Cooking
In all of these courses, step-by-step manuals will be provided in order to guarantee the project's long-term sustainability.
Along with these activities there will also be awareness raising workshops on VAW, Human Rights, Citizen Rights, HIV/AIDS and Family Planning. |
